There's no business like show business. Like no business I know. I cannot recall a time that I did not want to work in "the business" whether it was theater, photography or film. Initially it was understanding the simple yet profound principal of "intermittent motion" that that captivated an eight-year-old Little Bob. How did my 16mm Ampro projector take a reel of still images and make them move? I’d take that projector apart and put it back together over and over, each time leaving out more and more parts. I learned about electricity, optics and mechanics from that projector. It was quite patient with me, and was still running a few years back. But mostly I became captivated by how it somehow took this inanimate reel of film and turned it into a magic story on the screen. Now if I ONLY could do that! That interest quickly grew into a love for the art of film and theater. I found I had a natural feel for producing and understanding the intersection between the art and the business – equally excited about both. |
