I don't think there is a type of music I do not like. If it is something I have heard before, it is like visiting an old friend and if it is something new, it is an exciting discovery. Music is the soul of humanity. I am often stopped on the street by fans, or complete strangers, and asked what music I like.* I usually respond like this... "Professor Longhair, the divine Hadda Brooks, Katie Melua, Bernard Hermann, Fiona Apple, Alwyn, Aimee Mann, Conductor Leonard Slatkin, Van Morrison, Randy Newman, Film Composer Zbigniew Preisner, Sting, Bob Dylan, Marianne Faithful, Puccini, La Boheme, Mr. Ennio Morricone, Norah Jones, Louie Armstrong, Annie Lenox, Henryk Gorecki, BB King, of course, Pavarotti, Kate Bush, Seal, Bjork, Fats Waller, Emmylou Harris, Leos Janacek, Miles Davis, Ben Carroll, Billie Holiday, Prince, Eric Clapton, Susie Suh, Sarah McLachlan, Queen Latifah, Marcus Miller, Peter Gabriel, Film Composer Brian Ralston, Sam Cooke, Michael Nyman, Buddy Guy, John Coltrane, Melissa Etheridge, Samuel Barber, Anggun, U2, Jon Brion, Kurt Weill, Patsy Cline, Ricky Lee Jones, Brilliant Conductor Ricardo Chailly, Tom Waits, Lauryn Hill, Sonya Kitchell, James Blunt, and so many, many more..."
*Truth-In-Website Disclosure: I am never ever stopped on the street and asked that question. Ever. |
