TEDx Broadway 2013 Revisited!
In January I attended the TEDx Broadway event at the New World Stages. The seminar asked the question “What is the best that Broadway can be?”. And by Broadway they meant the physical area as much as the theatre that is performed there. That is, Broadway as a larger part of economic New York City.
What I came away from this event, which was so refreshing after years working in the movie business, was the love that all of the speakers had about the art of theatre. It was clearly a group of very passionate speakers connecting with an equally passionate audience. You can read about all the individual speakers here.
And even better, these TEDx Broadway 2013 talks, contained in more than twenty videos, are now available on YouTube for all to learn and expand from. My favorites are Theatre as a Catalyst for Change: Daryl Roth, Why Do You Want to Be on Broadway?: by Terry Teachout, and Embracing All Audiences by Thomas Schumacher.
But all the videos are worth watching and considering the ideas presented. Especially enjoyable was the band Rasputina! (Wow!) whom entertained us at the event. And of course, Zachary A. Schmahl the CEO & Cookie Master of Schmackary’s Cookies.
Enjoy!
